WCSD Festival Info and Request for Chaperones

Intermediate and Advanced Orchestra students will perform April 3rd at North Valleys High School in the WCSD Orchestra Festival.  We need several chaperones for this event.  You may drive your own vehicle or ride on the bus. We do need several parents with large vehicles to transport the basses and cellos.   Please e-mail Mrs. Neidhold at cneidhold@washoe.k12.nv.us if you are able to chaperone.

***Please look for your student's performance clothing: black BDB Performing Arts shirt, black pants or skirt (covers knees when sitting), black socks or nylons, black shoes

Here's the schedule that day:

7:30   Arrive at school dressed in orchestra performance uniform, go to Advisory and first mod (3rd period)
8:45  Leave first mod early, get instruments and go out to the bus loading area, load buses and vehicles, take roll
9:20  Arrive North Valleys
9:35 Intermediate to warm-up/tuning, Advanced to audience, keep instruments with you
10:00 Intermediate performs
10:25 Intermediate to Judges Feedback Clinic
10:50 Advanced to warm-up/tuning, Intermediate to audience
11:15 Advanced performs
11:40 Advanced to Judges Feedback Clinic
12:05 All to lunch in the cafeteria - Golden Strings, first in line and eat fast then go directly to warm-up/tuning
12:30 Golden Strings performs, all Intermediate & Advanced students to audience
12:55 Golden Strings to Judges Feedback Clinic, Intermediate & Advanced load buses
1:30 Return to Billinghurst, Intermediate returns to class if enough time (7th period, 5th mod)

(This form was handed out in class on Thursday and Friday, March 8th and 9th.)

Saturday, March 10, 2012 – McQueen High School

• Make sure to get your instrument from school on Friday.  Billinghurst WILL NOT be open on Saturday.
• Bring a folding music stand with your name on all parts.
• Wear jeans/khakis & comfy shoes. T-shirts will be handed out in the morning at check-in.
• T-shirts will be for sale at the concert for any parents wishing to purchase one for $10.
• Students enter at Gymnasium entrance and will check-in at their assigned room.  Directions and signs will be posted.

1:00 – Middle School Lunch – McQueen High School Cafeteria

1:00 – McQueen Electric Orchestra Performance for 6^th Graders – Gymnasium

1:30 – 6th Graders attend performance and tours – Little Theater

1:30 – Middle School Setup, Tuning, and Rehearsal – Gymnasium

2:00 – McQueen Call Time - Gymnasium

3:00 – 6^th Graders to gym for mass rehearsal

3:30 – Doors Open for Parent Seating – Gymnasium

4:00 – Concert Begins

5:00 – Concert Ends
