History/Theory Assignment Due Oct 8

For Intermediate & Advanced Orchestra students only.

History/Theory
Listening Assignment:

You must listen to at least one classical piece every week that does not count for time. This week it will also be your History/Theory assignment which will include a short writing element.
Each week on all future Practice Sheet (the other side) you will need to write in the name of the piece, the composer, and how you listened, for example: CD or YouTube.  If you listen to a piece of music on You Tube you must write down the link.
Eventually, when you get your listening CD, you will be required to listen to your CD at home.  You are welcome to load it onto your computer or iPod.

This week’s listening assignment is to listen to the music of Beethoven and learn a little about his life.
To learn about Beethoven’s life, you are welcome to read from any source, however, you need to write down where you read about him.  Here’s a suggested link to start reading:
Please write down where you read about Beethoven:_________________________________________
You should listen to at least two pieces of Beethoven’s music written for string players.  Beethoven wrote violin and cello sonatas, string quartets, and symphonies.  You must write down the internet link if you listened on the computer.  YouTube is a very good source.
What did you listen to?
