JHO Audition Clarification from Mrs. Neidhold

Here are the requirements for the JHO audition.  Please also see the post of the JHO Audition Information Sheet from the JHO conductor.

1.  All students are required to take the audition and should make tentative plans to be at Sparks Middle School on the afternoon of October 19th.  Students and parents should make plans for carpooling if necessary.
2.  I cannot send 66 students to the audition without causing the organizers a lot of problems, therefore there will be a screening audition at Billinghurst during class hours.  The students who the judge passes will be required to attend the afternoon audition.  I would prefer that all students attend the actual audition but this isn't possible, thus the in-school pre-screen audition.  The students won't know until the day before the audition if they are required to attend.  The in-school auditions are October 14th, 17th & 18th during class.
3.  If the judge determines that a student hasn't practiced and prepared the audition music, the student will receive a zero for this portion of the grade which is 25% of the quarter grade.  Students who make a reasonable effort to learn the music will earn full marks if they are required to attend the Sparks Middle School audition.  Students who make a reasonable effort to learn the music but are not required to attend the Sparks audition will receive full marks.
4.  If students are selected to participate in JHO, I will not require them to participate for a grade in the Billinghurst class.  I encourage all eligible students to take advantage of this orchestra experience.

One of the confusions is I accidentally copied the "Congratulations, you're in" letter.  Mainly, I wanted parents to understand as much as possible about JHO.  Your student is not in the orchestra - yet.  I hope that all students make a great effort to learn this music and learn from the audition experience.  I know that Billinghurst will be well represented in JHO -- as always!
